The woodland garden at Cady’s Falls is home to our collection of shade loving plants from around the world. This includes many North American natives along with their Asian cousins. The backbone of the garden is the fern collection, the subtle variation of blue hosta and the Asarum europeaum which has reseeded obligingly throughout.
This garden is mulched by yearly leaf drop from the canopy of oak, maple and birch, as well as an occasional extra application of half composted leaves. To offset the drying effect of the tree root competition, this garden is soaked overnight by sprinklers during rainless periods in the summer.
The woodland garden is at the height of bloom in May but the lush foliage makes it a cool and peaceful place to visit throughout the summer months.
